The Vice-Secretary for Territorial Policy of the Popular Party of Almería, Manuel Guzmán, has described the way the socialists of Almería act as “political baseness” and has regretted that in their “summer itinerary of criticism of the PP” they use manipulation and lies to “attack a mayor who is giving his all for his neighbours and who only wants Chercos to continue advancing as he has achieved in previous legislatures under his mandate”.
Guzmán, who has held a meeting with José Antonio Torres, aged 99, has conveyed to him the affection and support of the entire Popular Party of Almería, and has urged the socialists to «respect» the mayor and to let him carry out his work in the mayor’s office freely, without pressure or continuous attacks, which is what is happening in this small municipality of Almanzora.
«It is a shame that in a town as small as Chercos, with 300 residents, the socialists do not respect the mayor who has suffered constant attacks from the socialists from the very beginning when José Antonio Torres’ only goal is to look after his municipality and work so that it continues to have more and more benefits and services,» he explains.
The deputy secretary of the PP recalls how, just after starting his mandate, following the motion of censure that took place in November, José Antonio Torres had to be taken to hospital after the brutal harassment he suffered at the hands of PSOE leaders in the town.
The PSOE blames the PP for the “ridiculous” situation in Chercos with an “inactive” mayor
The Secretary of Organisation of the PSOE in Almería, Antonio Martínez, has blamed the provincial leadership of the Popular Party for having promoted the halting of the development of Chercos by allowing a mayor “who did not win the elections and who does absolutely nothing for the town” to dismiss, after a motion of censure together with the extreme right, the socialist mayor, Eduardo Mena, who “had great plans for the future” for this municipality, some of which are in execution even though they only let him govern for five months.
In his opinion, Chercos “should stop being in the news for having a nonagenarian mayor, something that we respect and we have nothing to say, but Chercos should be in the news for being a town with infrastructure, with activities and opportunities and not for the nice news about the age of the mayor who contributes little to the development of the municipality and which is plunged into chaos due to the management of the PP”. The PSOE wonders “if this is the image that the PP wants to give of Chercos”, something that “negatively” influences it and the lives of the inhabitants of this town.
