Renewable energy for Alcóntar and Cóbdar thanks to European funds

The works and installations of the DUS 5000 Plan continue to reach the public buildings of the municipalities of the province of Almería. The Provincial Council has approved the awarding of the works that will provide renewable energy to the facilities of seven municipalities in the province.

Specifically, the investments that will be made in Huécija, Instinción, Alcóntar , Fiñana, Cóbdar , Benitagla and Lubrín amount to €648,675. The DUS5000 Plan ‘Renewable electricity generation facilities for self-consumption’ is a programme of aid for investments in unique local clean energy projects in municipalities with a demographic challenge, with fewer than five thousand inhabitants, within the framework of the Government of Spain’s Regeneration and Demographic Challenge Programme.

The Provincial Deputy for Sustainability, José Juan Martínez, has highlighted the importance of a plan that contributes both to energy savings and to promoting renewable energy within municipal facilities: “We are very satisfied with the approval of seven projects that will make it possible for solar photovoltaic energy installations to reach 42 municipal buildings in these seven towns in the province,” he explained, while revealing that the execution of the DUS 5000 Plan continues to advance.

In this regard, the MP explained that all the projects that have received funding from the Next Generation funds have already been awarded.

In Cóbdar the facilities will reach the Clinic, the Paraje San Pedro Drilling Station and the Funeral Home; while in Benitagla they will be installed in the town hall itself, the Social, Cultural and Senior Citizens Centre, as well as in the Rural Houses and the Water Treatment Plant and the Drilling Station.

On the other hand, in Lubrín 10 installations will be built: Town Hall; Library, Gymnasium, Calle Europa Theatre; Water Treatment Plant, Medical Office; as well as in five boreholes. In Alcóntar , a total of 9 will be built in the Town Hall, in three wells, the water tank, the TV repeaters and the Adolfo Suárez Auditorium itself.

In Fiñana, the planned improvements will include the Pavilion, the Multipurpose Hall, the Town Hall, the Nursery, the Theatre, the Library and the Health Centre. In Instinción, solar panels will be installed in the School, the Town Hall and the Sports Court, while in Huécija, in the Theatre, the Swimming Pool and the Town Hall.

In the province of Almería, a global investment of 6.6 million euros is to be promoted through the DUS 5000 Plan and this year it has a budget of 4,170,000 euros. In total, more than 350 photovoltaic solar installations are to be carried out in 58 municipalities of the province to produce clean energy for self-consumption.

Taking into account the total amount of the planned expenditure, the amount to be financed by IDAE with EU Funds amounts to 57% and the remaining 43% will be financed by the Provincial Council of Almería.
