The Provincial Council of Almería has approved the awarding of important works in Oria that will provide more and better services to the municipality. In this case, it involves the start of works that will allow the construction of a new bio-healthy park and parkour in the town and, in addition, various improvements are contemplated in the San Lucas park, the replacement of a small children’s play area with a new paddle tennis court for the little ones, the construction of a pump truck and, finally, new paving in El Cañico street.
These five projects will be carried out thanks to an investment of 340,000 euros by the Provincial Council of Almería through the Provincial Plans in collaboration with the City Council of Oria. Thanks to this work, the residents of this municipality will be able to enjoy new services and public spaces, as well as a significant improvement and modernization of those already existing.
In this regard, the Deputy for Development, Infrastructure, Territorial Vertebration and Water, Antonio J. Rodríguez, has highlighted the institutional collaboration that makes this type of project possible, initiatives that, as he pointed out, «allow our towns to continuously improve public spaces that all residents and visitors enjoy. Thanks to projects of this nature, we manage to equalize opportunities between Almeria residents, wherever they live, and that residents of the 103 municipalities have access to top-quality services.»

For his part, the Mayor of Oria, Marcos Reche, has thanked the Provincial Council for its collaboration in making this project a reality, which, as he pointed out, “is especially designed for the new generations, both for the youngest members of the municipality and so that young people have a space in which to develop these new sports and disciplines that are so popular today and a new meeting point for them and all the residents”.
The new bio-health and parkour park will be located in front of the municipality’s residence and will be equipped with different elements that will allow the practice of exercise such as climbing machines, waist twisters, bicycles, steering wheels + rudders, pedals, shoulder and finger ladders adapted for people with reduced mobility, labyrinths… While the parkour area will have an area of prefabricated concrete elements of different sizes; other wooden elements and a final calisthenics area.
The new pump track will also be located on the existing land in front of the town’s residence and will be very close to the new park. It will have an asphalt circuit for practicing with skateboards, mountain bikes or BMX. The layout will have a series of dubbies and banks, with different heights and lengths. These variable shapes allow you to practice different techniques when absorbing and jumping obstacles, and also make right and left turns with different combinations.
The new children’s paddle tennis court will be built in the municipality’s sports centre next to the adult paddle tennis court. San Lucas Park will also be improved by removing and replacing the current children’s play elements, installing a zip line and fencing the perimeter of the play areas. Finally, within this project with five actions in Oria, El Cañico street will be repaved, which is currently in a poor state of repair.
Road improvement
The Provincial Council of Almería has already completed a project in Oria that has improved and modernised up to nine municipal roads in the town. Most of them had a dirt surface and thanks to this work they have new pavement, which increases the comfort and safety of all users of these roads.
The investment in this project has reached almost 300,000 euros, which have been financed by the Provincial Council of Almería (80%) with the contribution of 20% by the City Council of Oria. The roads on which these improvement actions have been carried out are roads that are used every day by the residents of the municipality and which provide access to different areas of Oria.
The roads that were previously made of dirt and that have been paved by means of these works are: Daimuz road, sections 1 and 2; La Yegua Alta, sections 1 and 2; Los Alonsos – Los Elviras road; sections 1 and 2 of José Martos – Los Chulos road; Fuente del Negro and Chaparrales. On the other hand, work will be carried out on the following streets and roads that are already paved with a reinforcement of the pavement: Concejala Remedios Simón street (Los Cerricos), Cambrones street and El Margen road.
