The Emergency Coordination Centre (Cecem 112), a service attached to the Ministry of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification, has coordinated 224,654 emergencies between June 1 and August 31, which is 1.5% more than those managed in the same period last year, when 221,329 incidents were attended to.
The most common reasons for which users have called the single emergency telephone number have been health-related with 100,260 coordinated emergencies, followed by cases of public safety (44,105), traffic incidents (21,171), fires (12,573), traffic accidents (12,509) and animals (12,351). The rest of the alerts coordinated by 112 are distributed between anomalies in basic services, incidents related to social services and rescues and salvage.
As for the provincial data, Seville, with 53,115 emergencies, is the one that has managed the most incidents; it is followed by Malaga (52,077), Cadiz (30,175) and Granada (26,908). The provinces with the lowest number of incidents this summer have been Almeria (19,594), Huelva (15,189), Cordoba (14,684) and Jaen (12,912).
Public, free and multilingual service
Emergencies 112 Andalusia is the only emergency telephone number in force throughout the European Union, active every day of the year, 24 hours a day for all types of urgent or emergency situations (health care assistance, fire fighting and rescue, public safety and civil protection, etc.). In addition, 112 has an Advanced Mobile Phone Location (AML) system, which is used to provide the exact coordinates of the person calling.
The service in Andalusia offers multilingual support, as calls are made in English, French, German, Arabic and Ukrainian in addition to Spanish. In this way, it guarantees coverage of all emergency situations that occur in Andalusia, regardless of the origin or language of the person requesting assistance.
