The 49th edition of the Rallye Costa de Almería will once again make it possible to experience the excitement of motor racing on the roads of the province with this event that will be held on the 27th, 28th and 29th of September.
The 49th Rallye Costa de Almería Memorial Pepe Rodríguez Abad–José Mª Rodríguez Navarrete, organized by the Automobile Club of Almería, is the fifth scoring round of the 2024 Andalusian Asphalt and Regularity Rally Championship -with coefficient 5- and the 2024 Almería Provincial Council Cup. In addition, it was presented this Wednesday at the Moisés Ruiz Pavilion.
The presentation was attended by the Vice President and Deputy for Sports, Healthy Living and Youth, José Antonio García; the Councillor for Sports of the City Council of Almería, Antonio Jesús Casimiro; the President of the Automobile Club of Almería, José Manuel López; and the Provincial Delegate of the Andalusian Federation of Motorsports (FAA), Martín Pastor.
Thus, José Antonio García has highlighted that with this event “high-level, competitive sport is brought to many corners of the province and to small municipalities that will be able to enjoy one of the most important rallies on the national scene”.
“Another important aspect is that it is a rally that defines the uniqueness and diversity of the sporting-tourist destination of the Costa de Almería. The province of Almería has everything in terms of sport and tourism, with its privileged natural surroundings, as well as roads that are perfect for motor racing. From the Provincial Council of Almería we promote our sporting and tourist destination with events like this one,” added the vice president.
The president of the Automobile Club of Almería has encouraged all drivers to sign up for the event, as there is still time. “They will enjoy a very compact rally, one that has not been held for many years, and very close to the city,” added López.
The Councillor for Sports of the Almería City Council has indicated that “Almería has the perfect conditions to carry out this test” and has continued that “from the Almería City Council, as always, we will prepare the Rambla to give the start and finish to these pilots who carry out an extraordinary test”.
Finally, Martín Pastor has highlighted that “in 2024 it will be 60 years since the Rallye ‘Costa de Almería’ began to be held. This makes it one of the most established rallies at a national level. In this 49th edition it will be the fifth town to count towards the Andalusian Championship and everything indicates that it is going to be a great race. As of today I know that the registration exceeds thirty high-level teams, and registration is still open”.
This race, which runs through different municipalities such as the capital, Alboloduy, Enix, Alhama de Almería and Vícar, has a total distance of 420 km with a total of 10 timed sections and a distance of 112 km. It also has four sections and will be carried out in two stages.
