The municipalities of Cantoria, Macael and Albox will be the main locations for the filming of “Calcinación”, the new film by the Albox director Luis Navarrete, who returns to his homeland to film this intense story. The filming will take place until October 5 and has the support and collaboration of the City Councils of Cantoria, Macael and Albox, which have given their support to the project, highlighting the cultural and tourist value of the production in the region.
The film tells the story of Álvaro, a man whose existence seems to have fallen apart, until the appearance of a girl unleashes chaos that transforms his life. “Calcinación” promises to immerse viewers in an intense emotional experience, with a visual and narrative approach that follows the visceral style of great filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese and Darren Aronofsky.
The aforementioned towns will become essential settings for this psychological journey, with their unique landscapes serving as a backdrop for a story full of symbolism. The production team has chosen these towns in the Almanzora region for their unique beauty and character, contributing to the atmospheric and desolate tone of the film.
The cast includes renowned actors from Spanish cinema and television:
- Javier Hernández, known for his roles in El barco and Amar es para siempre.
- Vanessa Pámpano, emerging actress with appearances in Águila Roja and La que se avecina.
- Antonia San Juan, an established actress with well-known works in La que se avecina and Todo sobre mi madre .
- Pablo Liñares, an emerging actor who we saw in The Queen of the Convent and The Ghost of the Sauna .
- Bernabé Fernández, known for his roles in The Boat and Aída .
The film is produced by Pablo Gregorio and Miguel Ángel Abuja of Timber Films, a Seville-based production company with an extensive track record with films such as Santa Bárbara and Las convulsiones (currently in production).
Luis Navarrete is also executive producer and promises us a powerful, rhythmic and authentic story, in which the author seeks to shape the mental process of depression from his own experience, to offer a meeting point and a place of conversation with the viewers.
