The Provincial Council of Almería is going to launch a new line of emergency aid to alleviate the effects of the DANA in the province of Almería. This was announced by the president of the Provincial Institution, Javier A. García, during the meeting he held in Armuña del Almanzora with the mayors of the municipalities that make up the Association of Municipalities of the Almanzora Valley to assess the damage in the region.
Specifically, the President has highlighted that from today the technical teams of the Provincial Institution are deployed in the province of Almería to assess the damage in the municipalities affected by the DANA.

In this regard, the three emergency measures that the Provincial Council of Almería, through three specific lines of aid, has put in place to alleviate the damage caused by the storm. The first is for the repair of municipal roads and highways; a second for urban infrastructures and a third for sanitation infrastructures and drinking water supply.

During the meeting, the mayors thanked the Provincial Council for its quick response and the President’s visit, and informed him that the main damages had occurred in basic infrastructure, municipal roads and highways.
Javier A. García has stated that this line of immediate aid will be created to “repair all this damage quickly. We are on the ground with technicians, deputies and mayors who are concerned about being able to repair the damage and restore basic services in the shortest time possible.”
Immediately afterwards, Javier A. García made a visit to see the damage caused by the torrential rains ‘in situ’. In Armuña del Almanzora, the mayor, Pedro Antonio Guerrero, guided the president, the vice president, José Antonio García, and the deputies Antonio J. Rodríguez and José Juan Martínez through the main damages that have occurred in the Well and Viewpoint on the banks of the Almanzora River, which overflowed for hours.
Minute of Silence
In Tíjola, prior to visiting the areas most affected by the overflowing of riverbeds, the president presided over a minute of silence together with the rest of the mayors of the region, called by the FEMP in memory of the deceased, in support of their families and friends and in consideration of those who have lost their homes due to the effects of the DANA.
The president wanted to show “all solidarity with the people of Valencia, all the victims, their families and friends. I had the opportunity to speak with the president of the Valencia Provincial Council to convey to him all the love and support from Almería towards a sister province such as Valencia. We were also able to observe a minute of silence in memory of all the victims.”
The main damage in Tíjola has affected its supply and sanitation networks. Firstly, the pipe that connects the wells with the reservoir that supplies the municipality has broken and the entire sanitation system of La Estación and Algaida has also been affected by the rains. Finally, the wastewater treatment plant of ‘El Higueral’ has been swept away by the overflow of a riverbed and is now completely gone.
