The Regional Ministry of Sustainability and Environment has awarded the works for the sealing of the inert waste landfill in the municipality of Líjar, Almería, for an amount of 700,000 euros. The company awarded the contract was ‘Transformaciones y Embalses Parra, SL’, after completing the tendering procedure.
The Regional Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Catalina García, stressed that this project ‘is yet another example of the Junta de Andalucía’s firm commitment to improving the natural environment and the correct management of waste in the autonomous region’.
‘The Andalusian government has taken a step forward in the restoration of degraded areas. With the sealing of this landfill, we have recovered an area that had a high environmental impact and we have guaranteed that it will not become a focal point for uncontrolled dumping’, the Regional Minister pointed out.

The sealing of the Líjar landfill is part of the Andalusian Integrated Waste Plan 2030, a strategy that has promoted the closure and restoration of old landfills to prevent their reactivation and promote the environmental regeneration of the affected areas.
