Without government help, Armuña cannot cope with the damage caused by DANA

The PP of Almería criticizes the Sánchez Government’s DANA aid decree, calling it a financial burden for municipalities in Almanzora. Local mayors express concern over the 50% co-financing requirement, arguing that their budgets cannot absorb the costs. Meanwhile, the Andalusian Government allocates 10 million euros to address infrastructure damage in the region.

The national deputies of the Popular Party of Almería, Maribel S. Torregrosa and Ana Martínez Labella, the senator and general coordinator of the PP of Almería, Miguel Ángel Castellón, and the provincial deputy José Juan Martínez, held a meeting today with the mayor of Armuña de Almanzora, Pedro Antonio Guerrero, who conveyed his concern after the DANA aid decree announced last week by the Government subdelegate, José María Martín since it is a “trap” decree that comes to suffocate the City Councils.

Maribel S Torregrosa explained that the damage caused by DANA last October represents around 10 million euros in the Almanzora region, however the Sánchez Government only announces aid worth 4 million euros, since the Central Executive only will finance 50% and the City Councils will have to support the other 50% plus the drafting of the project.

“What the Sánchez Government has done demonstrates the lack of knowledge and lack of sensitivity of the central Government towards the City Councils of the Almanzora region to whom it turns its back by transferring a financial burden that their municipal budgets cannot absorb”, he affirms.

Furthermore, the Sánchez Government will only pay, and once the work has been awarded, 85% of its 50%, and the remaining 15% will be paid once the work is finished and justified, which means that these City Councils As in the case of Armuña, they find themselves unable to face the repair of the infrastructure destroyed by DANA.

According to Pedro Antonio Guerrero, Armuña’s annual budget amounts to 480,000 euros, of which 80,000 euros are allocated annually to investment in infrastructure. The works that you have to carry out in your area to correct the damage caused by DANA amount to 400,000 euros, therefore, this would mean not being able to carry out any other investment in the next six years“

Maribel S Torregrosa denounces that the Government of Spain turns its back on the residents of Almanzora, when DANA has caused damage in the region that represents an expense of 1,000 euros per inhabitant, which implies the suffocation of the City Councils.

For his part, the senator and general coordinator of the PP, Miguel Ángel Castellón, points out that while the Sánchez Government punishes the Almanzora region with this “trap” decree, it does not hesitate to forgive the independentists 17,000 million euros with the sole purpose of that they continue supporting Pedro Sánchez.

“The PSOE Government prefers to give away 17,000 million to the independentists, when with only a total of 10 million it would have solved the problems of these municipalities. The residents of Almanzora are second-class citizens for Pedro Sánchez and from the PP we are going to continue denouncing the permanent punishment of the PSOE to our province”, he affirms.

Finally, remember that the Government of Juanma Moreno of the Popular Party is already undertaking investments in the region worth 10 million euros aimed at cleaning the river (2.5 million), a Road Plan worth 4 million, direct subsidies to the City Councils (2.5 million) and 1 million to correct the damage that occurred in the network.
