The Albox City Council is taking an important step toward protecting the health of its residents with the installation of semi-automatic external defibrillators at strategic locations throughout the municipality.
The goal is to reduce mortality from cardiorespiratory arrest in areas of the municipality where a significant number of residents come to the hospital, or to be prepared to respond to any emergency of this type, since rapid response is key to saving lives.
In this first phase of making Albox a cardioprotected municipality, four defibrillators have been purchased and installed in the two sports halls, the Water and Health Center, and one will be installed in the Local Police vehicle.

A group of municipal workers has already received training in basic life support, first aid, and defibrillator handling to respond to cardiac arrest among local residents. The plan is to continue training residents in general so they can respond to these types of situations.
“In a cardiac emergency, acting quickly is crucial. A nearby and accessible defibrillator can make the difference between life and death. It’s vital that Albox be a cardioprotected municipality. This was a commitment we made to the residents, and we’re keeping it,” says Mayor María del Mar Alfonso, who accompanied the workers on the training course.
