A 3-year-old girl has died after drowning in a swimming pool in La Manga del Mar Menor, in the municipality of San Javier, according to Emergencias 112 of the Region of Murcia.
Emergency personnel attended to the girl on site and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but were unable to save her life.
The Emergency Coordination Centre received a call at 17.31 hours requesting medical assistance to attend to the child, who had already been rescued from the water in a state of semi-consciousness.
The lifeguards at the pool treated the girl with oxygen therapy while awaiting the arrival of the ambulance.
A Mobile Emergency Unit from the 061 Health Emergencies and Emergencies Department, a Local Police patrol and members of the Copla Plan of the San Javier Town Council were on the scene.
