Tíjola lived this
Tíjola lived this past Saturday the XIII edition of its Triathlon Cros which preceded the VIII Triathlon for Minors «Ciudad de Tíjola» which was held on Sunday 24th.
The XIII Triatlón Cros Ciudad de Tíjola is a competition, with a unique format in Andalusia this season, of semi-final and final, in which the triathletes made a first qualifying round (semi-final) in which they completed a cros triathlon of supersprint distance of 250 meters swimming, made in the «Balsa de Cela»; 6 km of BTT with a small section of dubbies; and 1.6 km of running. After the first round, in which they got points depending on their result, they had to do a second (final) round on the same circuit. The sum of the scores from both heats would produce the winners of the race. All the details of this competition format can be consulted in the Competition Format and Trophies.
The race, organised by the Tíjola Town Council, with the collaboration of C.T. Tíjola – Ociodeporte Baza, the Almería Provincial Council and the Andalusian Triathlon Federation, was also a scoring event for the II Circuito Provincial de Triatlón Diputación de Almería (II Provincial Triathlon Circuit of Almería).

The women’s competition, very evenly matched, was decided at the end, where the triathlete Estíbaliz Plaza, from C.D. Vas, took the first place in the general classification from María Pérez, from C.D. Galosport, winner of the first leg. Third place on the women’s absolute podium went to Jennifer Aparicio, also from C.D. Galosport.
In the men’s race, the supremacy of an unbeatable Fran Prados, from C.D. Entrena@Trijuansa reigned supreme both in the first heat and in the final. Behind him, Germán Rodríguez, from C.D. Vas, lost a few valuable seconds in the MTB sector, after coming out of the water in first position in both heats, which would cost him the victory of the race. Third place went to Juan Jesús Quiles, from the local club Triatlón Tíjola – Ociodeporte Baza, after a hard fought battle with Miguel Ángel Vargas, from C.D. Triatlón el Ejido and his club mate, Alejandro Salmerón.
