The PSOE of Olula warns about the «unacceptable quality of the water» that comes out of the taps.

The PSOE of Olula del Río has warned through a press release, of a problem of «public health» due to the «unacceptable state» in which the drinking water is in the municipality. Thus, the spokesman for the Socialist Municipal Group in the Olula del Río Town Hall, Diego Castaño, has asked the PP mayor to intervene in this «extremely serious» matter and has stated that, according to the latest «devastating» reports released by the supply concessionary company, Gestagua, «suspended solids exceed three times the permitted level, which is 500 points, when in Olula del Río we are at 1,360».

Likewise, «the PH reports indicate that it has to be between 5 and 7 points, when our water exceeds 8 points; and the conductivity has to be below 500 points when it is now at 650». This information was put on the table at the last meeting of the Local Government Board of the Olula del Río Town Council without «the PP government team having made it known to the public to at least warn of this situation», lamented Diego Castaño.

The PSOE claims to have received numerous complaints from neighbours about the appearance of the water coming out of their taps and has insisted on the need for the mayor to give an explanation to the people of Olula del Río while «adopting the appropriate measures to improve the quality of the water we drink».

«The supply of quality water in Olula del Río is a major issue because it costs us users a lot of money. We have already suffered a rise in the price of water this year and in the plenary session they will raise it again, but when we turn on the tap we cannot drink it because it does not meet the necessary conditions and we have to buy the water for consumption,» the socialist spokesman denounced. «The town’s water wells have been sealed for a long time because of their poor quality and now it turns out that the water coming from the Negratín is also bad», he described and called for a definitive solution to be found by the Town Hall of Olula del Río and the Junta de Andalucía.
