Armuña already feels the benefits of being part of the PFEA

The actions generate more than 1,160 workdays in this municipality, which was the last to join the management of the PFEA.

The Provincial Council of Almeria is carrying out three actions in the municipality of Armuña de Almanzora, within the works of the Plan de Fomento de Empleo Agrario (PFEA) 2023/2024. Armuña de Almanzora is the latest municipality to join the management of the PFEA by the Provincial Institution, and the deputy for Agrarian Employment, Matilde Díaz, has visited the municipality with its mayor, Pedro Antonio Guerrero, to see these actions first hand.

«We are completely proud to be able to announce that more municipalities are benefiting from the PFEA, thanks to the incorporation of Armuña de Almanzora. The Plan de Fomento de Empleo Agrario, which is managed by the Provincial Council of Almeria, is vital for inland municipalities because it equalises opportunities, improves our villages and creates employment,» said the deputy during her visit to the work being carried out in this municipality.

In this municipality 1,163 workdays are going to be created thanks to the works in the museum and infrastructures in Armuña, the improvements in public spaces and in the C.P.R. ‘Alto Almanzora’.

The infrastructure works include the opening of ventilation openings in the museum; scraping of walls to remove the remains of existing paint; damp-proof paint; changing the window for a tilt-and-turn window; repairing skirting boards; repairing bathroom tiles; and installing a grille on the window to change it to a tilt-and-turn window.

The second action is in Calle Castillo and consists of replacing the existing railing with a new 100 cm high railing; while the entrance to the village, in Calle Castillo, will also be improved with the installation of a wooden perimeter railing; as well as concrete walkways, the installation of three weights and picnic benches; a clean point and a water fountain.

In addition, the public spaces are being improved with the maintenance of the municipal parks and gardens. The work will consist of the maintenance of flowerbeds, gardens and planters, by cleaning and clearing the existing weeds, carrying out manual tilling of the land, conditioning the existing vegetation and eliminating weeds.

The streets, roads, paths and ditches will also be cleaned up by clearing and weeding the land, with manual tilling of the land and elimination of weeds. The exteriors of municipal buildings and public walls will be painted with rough stone paint, applying a coat of primer to

rough stone paint, applying a base coat and a finishing coat. The metal railings will also be repainted with synthetic enamel.

Finally, the C.P.R. ‘Alto Almanzora’ will also be improved with a first phase consisting of the interior painting of the centre, the replacement of windows, masonry work, carpentry and the replacement of handrails.

The work to be carried out in the municipality will cost more than 135,600 euros. As detailed by Matilde Díaz, the PFEA, which is an example of institutional collaboration between the Government of Spain, the Junta de Andalucía, the Diputación and Town Councils, this year 2023/2024 increases its investment effort to more than 16.25 million euros.
