The municipality of Bacares will enjoy a renovated swimming pool thanks to the investments of the Provincial Council of Almeria. The Governing Board of the Provincial Council has recently approved the tender for a project that will provide a solution to the sinking and damage suffered by the pool.
Specifically, the pool basin to be built is rectangular and its interior dimensions will be 19.50 m long by 9.10 m wide, which means a water surface area of 177.45 m2. The depth of the pool is 1.10 m to 1.40 m at its shallowest part and 2.20 m at its deepest part.
According to the project, there will be a new staircase measuring 1.40 m x 1.80 m which bridges a 1.10 m difference in level. The planned ramp consists of two straight sections and an intermediate plateau. The total volume of water in the planned pool, taking into account the stairs and the ramp, is 250.34 m3.

The new pool will be fully accessible and will have a budget, charged to the Provincial Plans, of 233,000 euros. Once it has been put out to tender, the works can become a reality after the awarding of the contract and the signing of the reconsideration report.
In addition to the bathing pool, the enclosure has a beach area surrounding the pool with paving and artificial grass to create rest areas. It also has four showers.
Antonio J. Rodríguez, the deputy for Development, has highlighted the value of the Provincial Plans as the maximum expression of collaboration and assistance to the municipalities: «They are essential because they allow actions to be carried out which, without the support of the Provincial Council and on their own, would be very difficult for the town councils to undertake».
In the same way, Antonio J. Rodríguez, has assured that thanks to this programme of the Diputación the town councils can save from their contribution the drop that occurs in the awarding process: «The small municipalities do not contribute or contribute very little, the medium-sized ones save a large part of their contribution and the large ones reduce from their contribution all the drop that occurs in the awarding process».
Antonio J. Rodríguez explained that thanks to these investments in the last four years, improvements and/or new swimming pools have been built in Ohanes, Olula del Río, Serón, Alhabia, Alcolea, Fines and Enix with an investment of close to two million euros.
