It happened at the beginning of December, when we reported that reports had been filed about the thefts in the parishes of Santa María de Albox and Santa María del Rosario de Macael.
These were the theft of the money boxes where the donations of the faithful are made and an investigation which pointed to a couple who had been seen by parishioners in a suspicious attitude, who were also not people commonly seen at mass.
This investigation was carried out by personnel from the Guardia Civil post in Albox, after the parish priests of each of the churches informed the agents that, on different days in December, three money boxes and donation urns had been stolen, In the same way, a member of the congregation of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, belonging to the church of Santa María in Alboja, was able to observe how a man and a woman stole a donation urn belonging to the brotherhood, at which point the perpetrators were forced to return it.

The Guardia Civil personnel in charge of the investigation carried out the corresponding inspections in the different churches, and after collecting and analysing the information obtained, managed to identify and locate a man and a woman, residents of Albox, as the alleged perpetrators of the thefts.
As a result of this investigation, the Guardia Civil of the Almeria Command arrested two people in Albox, who spontaneously acknowledged responsibility for the crimes of three burglaries committed in different churches in the municipalities of Albox and Macael.
