This Sunday, 4th February, the 5th edition of the «Ciudad de Tíjola» Junior Duathlon will be held in Tíjola and with it, the first of the great Andalusian circuits for juniors will start, which will bring together around 180 duathletes.
In this competition, minors from all the Andalusian Triathlon Schools will compete in a circuit that combines the disciplines of running and road cycling.
The race will start at 10 am and the epicentre will be in the Municipal Park «El Paseo» in Tíjola. The start, finish and transition area will be located there. The running sector will take place along the streets Maestro Lázaro, Don Juan de Austria and Calle Maura. The cycling sector will run along Carrera Virgen del Socorro street, Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, passing in front of the Municipal Sports Pavilion until reaching the Industrial area of Tíjola, where the turning point will be located.
The race, organised by the local club C.D. Triatlón Tíjola – Ociodeporte Baza, with the collaboration of the Tíjola Town Hall, the Andalusian Regional Government and the Andalusian Triathlon Federation, will be the first of the 8 races that make up the X Circuito Andaluz de Duatlón de Menores and also the recently presented III Circuito Provincial de Triatlón de Menores Diputación of Almeria.
Registrations have been closed since Monday 26 January and a total of 175 children have registered for the event, ranging from the pre-benjamin category (born in 2017-18) to the youth category (born in 2007-08).
The day is scheduled to finish at around 15:00, after the prize-giving ceremony for the alevín, benjamín and prebenjamín categories.
