
Almeria’s minors have hardly had time to rest, after celebrating their annual triathlon gala last Friday 2 February, where awards were presented to last season’s winners, when on Sunday 4 February the competitions returned to the province with the fifth anniversary of the «Ciudad de Tíjola» Junior Duathlon.
There were 175 minors from all the Andalusian Triathlon Schools, from the pre-benjamin category (born in 2017-18) to the youth category (born in 2007-08), who travelled to Tíjola to take part in this event which combines the disciplines of running and road cycling.
The race started at 10 a.m. from the Municipal Park «El Paseo» in Tíjola, where the start, finish and transition area was located. Throughout the morning, there were a succession of starts in all categories, which involved changes of circuits to adapt the distance to the age of the participants, as indicated in the Competition Regulations.

The event, which was organised by the local club C.D. Triatlón Tíjola – Ociodeporte Baza, with the collaboration of the Tíjola City Council, the Andalusian Regional Government and the Andalusian Triathlon Federation, was the first of the 8 qualifying events of the X Circuito Andaluz de Duatlón de Menores, which will cover the 8 Andalusian provinces with 1 competition in each of them.
At the provincial level, the event also inaugurated the III Provincial Council of Almeria Junior Triathlon Circuit, which will be made up of 4 races.
The day ended at 15:00, after the awards ceremony of the categories alevín, benjamín and prebenjamín, as planned.
