
The plenary session of the Tíjola Town Council approved its budget 2024, unanimously by the political groups represented in the municipality.
«It is a historic event», affirms the mayor José Juan Martínez (PP), who once again made clear his predisposition to consensus, «they (PSOE) will always have our hand outstretched to reach agreements and consensus, as long as it is for the benefit of the municipality of Tíjola».
The council reiterated «its firm commitment to the responsible management of public resources, pursuing financial soundness without incurring debt, and guaranteeing a solid budget balance. The approval of the budget for the year 2024 reflects the commitment to key programmes, such as active ageing, being the only municipality in the province of Almeria to offer a nine-month period or aquagym during the summer months. In addition, initiatives such as the family reconciliation programme have been incorporated».

«In the social sphere, support for associations and sports clubs in Tijola is reaffirmed through the continuity of aid. The opening of the Virgen de Fátima Day Centre, an initiative that will strengthen the range of social services on offer, is particularly noteworthy».
«In terms of investments, we highlight the wide range of projects in the area of urban planning with a comprehensive reform of streets and buildings throughout the municipality. Highlights include the renovation of the Town Hall Square, the replacement of the water supply pipes and the asphalting of the Camino Viejo, as well as the complete remodelling of the municipal building in Calle Gracilaso de la Vega. It also details the latest efforts to complete the sports facilities, which will become a benchmark at provincial level».
