The destination ‘Costa de Almeria’ starts its route through Europe to ‘capture’ international tourists

After the success of FITUR, the Provincial Council will attend the Munich and Utrecht fairs for the first time and will return to the world’s major trade fairs in Berlin and Paris.

The destination ‘Costa de Almería’ begins its route through Europe with the aim of ‘capturing’ the international tourist eager for unique, unrepeatable experiences and the largest tourist offer in the Mediterranean. This was stated by the Vice President, Fernando Giménez, who announced the presence of the Provincial Council for the first time at events such as the F.R.E.E. in Munich, which took place this week, and Utrecht (Fiet en Wanderlurs), which will take place next week, and will return, again, to the major world events: the ITB in Berlin and the Paris Tourism Fair.

Giménez has highlighted the importance of attending F.R.E. E (Freixet, Reise and Messe; Leisure, Travel and Fair, respectively): «It is the first time we travel and with this action together with the upcoming presence of ‘Costa de Almería’ at the ITB in Berlin we redouble our efforts to «capture and consolidate» the German tourist. At this event the Provincial Council and Costa de Almeria will have a space in the ‘stand’ of Turespaña, located in a privileged location in the centre of the Messe München exhibition centre.

Considered the largest and most recognised tourism and leisure fair in Bavaria, it follows the line of other European fairs, eminently aimed at the final public. Last year’s edition registered more than 160,000 visitors, 900 exhibitors from 50 different countries and an exhibition area of almost 90,000 m2.

Giménez recalled that the total number of passengers arriving by direct flight from Germany last year was thanks to the operation promoted by ‘Costa de Almería’: «There were almost 8,000 passengers via the second most important German airline in the country on a connection with Dusselldorf. We are starting a new path to recover German tourism as one of the major markets, which decades ago was predominant in Almeria, Andalusia and Spain».

The German tourist who visited Andalusia between January and June 2023 had an average daily expenditure of 122 €, had an average stay of 9.9 days, preferring the months of September and October to visit us, and choosing hotel establishments in 65.8% of cases.

The event will therefore present the entire tourism offer, with a special focus on the nature segment, a very popular product for this outbound market in the province. «Provincial Council makes an ambitious commitment to the tourism offer of Almeria and the promotion of its main excellences and resources, giving the opportunity to present a comprehensive image of the destination Andalusia and, more specifically, the approach of the Costa de Almeria brand, increasingly popular among the German public,» he concluded.

On the other hand, the vice-president will attend next week the Fiets En Wanderlurs, in Utrecht. It is the first time that the Provincial Council attends this event with the aim of further strengthening the tourism market in the Netherlands to the province of Almeria. In addition, Giménez has advanced that the Provincial Council will display all the charms of the province at the ITB in Berlin and at the World Tourism Fair in Berlin.
