The Guardia Civil of the Commandery of Almeria, investigates the manager of a farm dedicated to the care of animals located in the municipality of Antas, after carrying out an investigation in which it is verified that both the shelter facilities and the nearly one hundred animals housed, are in terrible hygienic-sanitary and animal welfare conditions.
This investigation carried out by personnel belonging to the SEPRONA patrol of the Civil Guard in Garrucha, began in November 2023, when, following a complaint, it was discovered that several animals on a farm located in the municipality of Antas were in deplorable conditions of insalubrity and significant signs of malnutrition.
During the course of this investigation, the Guardia Civil staff became aware of different steps and complaints made by administrations and associations as well as about 70 other actions carried out by different units of the Guardia Civil of Almeria and Malaga, in which it was found that, in different places, the investigated, in charge of some type of animal centre, the conditions of the facilities and the animals had hygienic-sanitary deficiencies and lacked the corresponding documentation, as well as having been investigated for an alleged offence of theft of two dogs on a previous occasion.
The personnel of the Guardia Civil of Almeria in charge of the investigation, through different statements, is aware that the only support of the investigated comes from the shipment, through donations received and alleged charges, of around 500 euros per adoption, of the animals to different European countries. From the same statements, it is known that the person under investigation sends around 150 animals to these countries in a year.
As a result of this investigation and the inspections carried out by personnel of the Guardia Civil of the Almeria Command, the person in charge of a farm dedicated to the care of animals, located in the municipality of Antas (Almeria), was investigated for alleged crimes of animal abuse on a continuous basis.
Both the investigated and the investigated, are placed at the disposal of the Dean of the Courts of Vera, also proceeding to the intervention and deposit by court order of all the animals found in the shelter investigated and its temporary delivery to various animal protection associations in the region, for their care and proper care.
