One of the most eagerly awaited motor racing events in the province of Almeria is back. The Rally Valle del Almanzora-Sierra de los Filabres is organised by the Provincial Council of Almeria, the Andalusian Motoring Federation, the Olula del Río Town Council and MC Balcón del Almanzora, who have presented this tenth anniversary edition of the event.
The Almanzora Rally will pass through different municipalities such as Olula del Río, Cantoria, Arboleas, Albanchez, Líjar, Fines, Chercos and Cóbdar. In addition, it will be held on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 March and a total of 41 teams will participate, as detailed in the presentation where the Vice President and Provincial Councillor for Sport, Healthy Living and Youth, José Antonio García; the President of the Andalusian Automobile Federation, Manuel Alonso; the Mayor of Olula del Río, Antonio Martínez; and one of the representatives of the organisation, Salvador Segura, took part. In addition, a trophy of appreciation was presented to the Provincial Council of Almeria.
The Provincial Councillor for Sport, Healthy Living and Youth stressed that this event has important aspects because «they clearly define many of the objectives of our Provincial Plan for sport, which was approved in the last plenary session. The first is that sport has to serve as a dynamising agent for the territory, both economically and socially, and motor racing plays an essential role.
«Motorsport events are the most popular with spectators in the province of Almería, like this one, like the Gádor Rally or the Subida de Macael, among others, they bring together thousands of people in our mountains and on our roads,» added García.
For his part, the president of the Andalusian Automobile Federation has put in value this rally to be held on 8 and 9 March that «for the Andalusian Automobile Federation is very important because here we give the starting signal with a luxury registration. There will be 41 top level teams with top level national and international cars».
The Mayor of Olula del Rio stressed that this is a real support that is reflected in the municipalities. With this celebration and others we are making a big project for the province and for the Almanzora Valley region. Martínez also thanked the Provincial Council, the Federation and the organisers of this rally for their work.
Finally, the organiser highlighted one of the novelties, «the last two runs will be at night». As for the registered has detailed that will exceed 40 teams and there will be several champions of Andalusia Rally in this edition, among other great pilots.
The Rally Valle del Almanzora Sierra de los Filabres has a total distance of more than 370 kilometres. The nerve centre of this edition is Olula del Río. On Friday afternoon the start and the timed section will take place in this municipality. On Saturday the race will move on to Cantonria Arboleas and Albanchez with the morning sections. In the afternoon, the stages will take place in Líjar, Chercos, Cóbdar and Albachez, and there will be two night stages.
