
The municipality of Albox celebrated International Women’s Day this Friday, 8th March.
In the morning, the inauguration of the new premises of the Municipal Women’s Information Centre took place, which have been moved to new facilities. The Delegate for Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, Francisco González Bellido and the Coordinator of the Andalusian Institute for Women, María Esparza, accompanied the Mayoress of Albox, María del Mar Alfonso and the councillor Vanesa Águila, at the inauguration of the new premises located in Calle Ramón y Cajal, on the ground floor of the Municipal Archives.
The new premises improve accessibility, confidentiality and, in short, provide better facilities for information, advice and support services for the professionals who provide services to women throughout the Almanzora Region.

A violet point has been installed in the José Miras Carrasco Square, in the centre of the town, and throughout the morning it has been visited by numerous local groups.

The morning’s events ended with the screening of a documentary and a debate and discussion by Rocío Juárez, a filmmaker and expert in equality, in the Federico García Lorca Auditorium.
In the afternoon, the Town Hall of Albox will celebrate the ‘Gala Mujeres Ilustres de Albox 2024’ (Illustrious Women of Albox 2024 Gala) in which six women from the municipality will be recognised. Fina Alonso Martínez, Rosario Lozano Teruel, María Sáez López, Rosa María Pardo Mármol, Lucia Contreras Mora and posthumously, Constanza Blesa López will receive recognition.
