
The municipality of Albox is celebrating this month of March with a very intense programme around International Women’s Day. After inaugurating the new premises of the Municipal Women’s Information Centre (CMIM) on the morning of Friday 8th March, as well as carrying out various activities with different groups in the municipality, in the afternoon, one of the central events of this commemoration was held, the ‘Gala de Mujeres Ilustres de Albox 2024’ (Gala of Illustrious Women of Albox 2024).
Six women from Albox were the protagonists; Fina Alonso Martínez, Rosario Lozano Teruel, María Sáez López, Rosa María Pardo Mármol, Lucía Contreras Mora and posthumously, Constanza Blesa López received the recognition in a Gala organised by the Department of Equality, directed by the councillor, Vanesa Águila and the CMIM.
The event began at seven o’clock in the evening at the Water and Health Centre, which was filled with residents of Albox and the Almanzora Region, to support these six women recognised for their career. Neighbours of Albox with a strong social commitment to those most in need, who have managed to overcome the vicissitudes of life and to do so by being an example. Women ahead of their time, whose work has made the town of Albox a better place.

«You receive this well-deserved tribute and you do so on behalf of all the women of Albox. You are strong, hard-working, intelligent, generous and enterprising women» said the Mayoress of Albox about the award winners, before dedicating a few words to each of them.
In addition, the Provincial Councillor for Equality, Ana Lourdes Ramírez and the Delegate for Agriculture, Antonio Mena, attended the evening presented by the Albox journalist, Paqui Martínez, and in which the common thread was precisely the lives of these six women.
Videos were produced for the occasion in which the honoured women shared some of the most important moments of their lives. All of them moved the audience who filled the auditorium and enjoyed a night to remember.
The music was provided by the Albox Municipal Music School Choir and after the awards ceremony everyone enjoyed an aperitif courtesy of the Albox Town Hall.
