Zurgena is the capital of Ireland in the Almanzora.

More than 400 residents of British origin, with a clear Irish protagonist, gathered this Sunday in the Plaza del Olmo in Zurgena, to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

Live music, food and lots of beer were the common denominator along with the green colour of the event.

«We want the locals born here and those who have chosen our town to live here to enjoy such a special day. These activities give life to our municipality and put us on the map of the province. Today -yesterday-, residents of Zurgena and other localities in the area, who have been mobilized in private buses because they did not want to miss the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, have arrived. This is the first edition of many to come,» said Domingo Trabalón, Mayor of Zurgena.

The gathering began at 12 noon and ended well into the afternoon, as the hired bands played covers of the best-known classics from rock history.
