The ex-mayor of Albox, Francisco Torrecillas, has requested in writing to Section 3 of the Provincial Court of Almeria the suspension of the trial scheduled for 15 and 16 May, in which he is charged with possible crimes against land use planning, prevarication and embezzlement of public funds, for working without permission in the Albox wadi as it passes through the town centre.
According to reliable judicial sources, the former mayor of Albox claims to have suffered a domestic accident which has prevented him from preparing for the trial normally, something which «requires careful and laborious preparation which is incompatible with his current state of health».
It is now up to the Provincial Court itself to decide whether or not to grant the request for a suspension of the trial.

Torrecillas and José Campoy (then councillor for Works) have been charged with the crime against land-use planning, with sentences of two years’ imprisonment and disqualification from the profession and trade related to construction.
For the crime of prevarication, Torrecillas and Campoy face a sentence of twelve years of disqualification and for the crime of embezzlement of public funds, the justice system accuses Torrecillas, Campoy and the former municipal comptroller as necessary co-operators, for which the prosecutor requests a sentence of five years in prison and absolute disqualification for any public employment or position for 15 years.
