The Provincial Council of Almería has announced the award of the construction of a new reservoir for the supply of water in the municipality of Senés, with a budget of €120,000. This important work is part of the Urban Use Hydraulic Infrastructure Plan 2021-2023, which demonstrates the Provincial Council’s firm commitment to water matters and to guaranteeing this essential service to all Almeria residents.
The Provincial Deputy for Sustainability, José Juan Martínez, has highlighted that this work “will not only improve the water supply in Senés, but also reflects the Provincial Council’s ongoing commitment to the development of modern and efficient hydraulic infrastructures.”
“This project is another step towards guaranteeing a quality water supply service for all the inhabitants of this municipality, which during the summer months triples its population,” he added, while explaining that “the Urban Use Hydraulic Infrastructure Plan 2021-2023 is an example of the Provincial Council’s commitment to the efficient and sustainable management of water resources, which are essential for the economic and social development of our land. Water is a key factor in establishing the population in the territory,” he added,

About the project
The new supply reservoir will have a rectangular floor plan, with external dimensions of 8.30 m by 5.70 m and a total height of 5.15 m. It will consist of two independent reservoirs of equal capacity, with internal dimensions of 5.10 m by 3.70 m and a height of 4.90 m, allowing a maximum water height of 4.10 m. The structure will be built with reinforced concrete on site, ensuring its durability and resistance.
The work includes the construction of a valve chamber attached to the tank, measuring 7.45 m by 2.75 m, where all the necessary elements for the water inlet and outlet pipes, the valves and their accessories will be located. In addition, an independent chlorination system will be installed to guarantee the drinkability of the water.
Access to the reservoir will be via a perimeter road. To improve accessibility and functionality of the site, the layout of the access road will be modified and channels will be built for the entry and exit of water, as well as a stormwater network.
