The Traffic figures for this summer have been a total of 1,020,737 journeys on the roads of Almería, both on the State Road Network and on regional and provincial roads.
The data is very similar to that recorded in 2019, before the pandemic, and very similar to that recorded last summer.
This was made clear at the meeting held by the Government’s sub-delegate, José María Martín, with the provincial head of Traffic, José María Méndez, in which both discussed the figures for journeys recorded during the summer. «We are talking about more than a million journeys on the roads of Almería, a very significant figure, although it is always regrettable that three people have lost their lives in the accidents that have occurred,» said the sub-delegate in this regard.

Thus, in the first special traffic operation, established on June 28, 29 and 30, a total of 278,769 trips were made on the roads of the province.
In the second special operation on the occasion of August 1, the number of traffic movements rose to 140,033, with the operation on August 15 being the largest of the whole summer, with a total of 400,475 movements on the roads of Almería. The last special traffic operation, at the end of August, recorded a total of 201,460 movements.
Of the more than one million journeys, there have been a total of 129 accidents with victims in Almería, including the deaths of 3 people, the hospitalisation of 19 people with injuries of varying severity and 177 minor injuries. These accidents have occurred both on roads included in the State Road Network and on regional or provincial roads.
Thus, during the month of July there were 62 accidents with victims, one of them fatal. Another 11 people had to be hospitalized and 84 were slightly injured.
In August, the number of road accidents rose to 67 accidents with victims, resulting in 2 deaths, 8 injuries requiring hospitalisation and 93 minor injuries.
The figures are very similar to those recorded in the same period last year, when, during the months of July and August, 130 accidents were recorded with victims, 3 deaths, 9 serious injuries and 160 minor injuries.
