The delegate of Justice, Local Administration and Public Function, has visited the Town Hall of Huércal-Overa, where she was accompanied by its mayor Domingo Fernández, the councillors María del Mar Meca and Mónica Navarro. During the meeting both leaders have addressed issues that affect the improvement of the residents of the municipality. The Autonomous Administration highlighted the importance of the institutional collaboration between the Junta and the Huércal-Overa Town Council.
Subsequently, the delegate of Justice has moved with the mayor of the town to the courts, where he stressed that one of the best news that could bring to this municipality is «the start of work on the new City of Justice. Navarro explained that the budget has earmarked a significant 1.8 million euros for this project to be located in the municipality of Huércal-Overa, and whose overall amount exceeds 6.4 million euros.
The Justice delegate explained that this is a historic demand «which already has the backing of the Andalusian Government and we are confident that work will begin as soon as possible». Navarro recalled that this budget item demonstrates the Andalusian Regional Government’s support for new judicial infrastructures in Huércal-Overa.
For the Mayor of Huércal-Overa, Domingo Fernández, «with the start of these works «an important boost will be given to our courts, which are currently in a deplorable situation, as we have been demanding from the Town Hall over the last few years, improving conditions for users and workers».
Improvements in different areas
During her visit to Huércal-Overa, Carmen Navarro announced a 5% increase in the works of the PFEA, Plan de Fomento del Empleo Agrario, to carry out projects that will improve public services and infrastructures in the municipality. Navarro explained that these are «improvements in public facilities and services for the residents that the Consistory could not afford with its own resources, hence the importance of collaboration between administrations».
Another of the aspects highlighted by the delegate of the Junta de Andalucía was the Junta’s commitment to administrative simplification in the town councils, as «it is a question of working to make the administrations increasingly more efficient and agile spaces».
Carmen Navarro also spoke about the itinerant Andalusian Victim Support Service (SAVA), located in the municipality of Huércal-Overa. The delegate of Justice has stressed that «it was a good decision to install it in this town in the east of the province to bring this resource closer to the victims of crime, thus avoiding the need for citizens of the province to travel to the capital of Almeria». The delegate added that «it is a way of decentralising services and thus helping to prevent depopulation».
