Iván López Santiago died on 31 August 2021 when he was providing services for Acciona Facility Services S.A., a company subcontracted by Cosentino S.A. to carry out maintenance and cleaning work on the mixer of the Silestone III production plant located in the Cosentino Industrial Park in Cantoria.
The accident which caused the death of this young man from Alboja, then resident in the municipality of Purchena, and which is currently the subject of criminal proceedings before the Court of Instruction No. 3 of Huercal-Overa, had as its immediate cause the start-up of the mixer 5 in which the industrial cleaning tasks were being carried out while the worker was inside it.
The causes and circumstances of Iván’s death are being tried to be elucidated by the justice system, which is why on 5 and 6 May of this year the representative of the company Acciona Facility Services S.A., the person in charge of the workers of the aforementioned company and the company’s prevention technician were summoned to testify in court. The legal representative of the company Cosentino and the director of the Joint Prevention Service were also summoned to testify.
Also under investigation, the Director of Sustainability and Safety of the Cosentino company, the person in charge of the press area, the worker’s press manager and the mixer present at the time of the accident were summoned to testify on 6 May of this year.
Tomorrow, 10 November, the maintenance manager, the Acciona prevention technician and a third worker have been summoned to testify at 9 am.
In addition, two people have been summoned to testify as witnesses at the same time, through the legal representation of Cosentino.
