The territorial delegate for Employment, Enterprise and Self-Employment, Amós García Hueso, today handed out aid resolutions totalling 2,867. 269 euros to implement seven new projects of the Employment and Training programme, with which 130 more unemployed people from the municipalities of Adra, Alcudia de Monteagud, Benizalón, Chercos, Huércal-Overa, Líjar, Roquetas de Mar, Senés, Tahal, Vera, Vélez-Blanco, Zurgena will receive training for a year in occupations with high demand in the Almeria labour market while doing internships.
As detailed by Amós García, these seven projects are in addition to those recently approved for Almería City Council with 1.2 million euros to train and provide internships for 50 people and seven more that are still being developed with 105 participants, funded by Employment with more than 2.1 million euros. He also pointed out that «the training will not only be theoretical, the students will do practical work experience from the very first moment and will thus be able to gain work experience, breaking down the barrier to their access to the labour market which in many cases means not having any». The training received will enable students to obtain level 1, 2 and 3 certificates of professionalism, depending on the speciality.
García Hueso said that the Employment and Training programme «has meant a reformulation, with significant improvements, of the previous workshop schools and employment workshops, with the main objective of improving the levels of labour market insertion achieved with these projects». In the previous workshop schools and employment workshops, hiring took place when the alternating phase of professional practice with theoretical training was completed.
In addition, the Employment Delegate highlighted that this programme «allows up to 100% of the cost of the projects to be covered and that the aid is paid in full in advance when the beneficiary entities are local bodies, thus avoiding them having to use their own funds and municipal resources to pay the amount needed to get them up and running».
