
The second edition of the Purchena Slalom, organised by the Automóvil Club Balcón del Almanzora with the collaboration of the Purchena Town Hall, ended this Saturday with the victory of the Sevillian driver Emilio Díaz, a victory that adds more excitement to the final stretch of the Andalusian Championship with one race to go.
Díaz with Seat Arosa was the fastest against the clock in the eighth round of the 2022 championship held on a 100% asphalt street circuit, after completing the best time in the sum of the two official rounds. Second place overall went to the driver from Conil and current provisional overall leader José María Manzanares in a Citroën Saxo, just one tenth of a second behind.
The third place on the podium went to José Antonio Lucena, a young driver from Seville who has been a surprise with his standard Saxo VTS. Manuel Valdés from Vejeria, fourth overall, won the Junior and Division 2 category, also with a Saxo.

By classes, victory for Emilio Díaz in Division I (vehicles under 1,600 cubic centimetres) followed by Emilio Díaz and José Antonio Lucena. In Division II (vehicles over 1,600 cubic centimetres) the podium was formed by Manuel Valdés with Ford Puma, followed by Israel Sánchez with Opel Astra and Sergio Domingo with BMW 320.
The large number of spectators in the streets of Purchena brought colour to the town, making Saturday a day in which to enjoy the good work of the drivers at the controls of their vehicles.
As far as the Almeria Provincial Cup 2022 is concerned, the provincial championship that rewards the best sportsmen from Almeria, Francisco Jerez won with Citroën Saxo in first position, the also local Sergio Domingo was second with BMW and José Luis Zurano with Damon Car was third.
In this way, the titles of the Andalusian Slalom Championship (CAS) will not be decided until the ninth and last race of the calendar, the Jerez Slalom to be held on December 17th at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Speed Circuit
