Today, 3 December, is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. In the Almanzora region, Tíjola hosted yesterday, Friday, one of the most important events that have been scheduled in the north of the province. The Virgen del Socorro Residence, celebrated again after two years, its Gala of People with Disabilities, in which, presented by the journalist, Paqui Martinez, the users of this residence, have been the real protagonists.
The event was attended by the Delegate for Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality of the Andalusian Regional Government, Francisco Bellido, the Mayor of the town, José Juan Martínez, and the managers of Grupo Gerial, which manages the centre, Juanma Reche, Antonio Carrión and Miguel Ángel Reche, as well as numerous groups from the municipality and local schools, who once again participated in this annual event.
After the party, held in the Casa de la Cultura Fidela Campiña de Tíjola, all the attendees moved to the local restaurant El Polígono to enjoy a convivial meal that ended late in the afternoon.
After two years of pandemic, the day of people with disabilities was once again celebrated in style, as they have been doing in recent years. Tíjola is the epicentre of care for the disabled and the elderly. One of the most important companies in Andalusia, Grupo Gerial, is based in this town, from where numerous centres are managed throughout Andalusia and also with new residences already in other parts of Spain. The basis of our commitment is the commitment to care based on affection, professionalism and as if it were a family.
