
The Town Hall of Olula del Río will celebrate this Andalusian Day in the Nave Polivalente with a party in which the work and contribution of ten local residents and groups will be recognised.
The event will begin at eleven o’clock in the morning with a performance by the ‘Escuela Municipal de Baile de Trini Villegas’. This will be followed by the Gala Tribute to the residents and associations that make the municipality great.
This year the distinctions have gone to:

Asociación Parkinson Almería (APAL); for improving the lives of Parkinson’s sufferers. With special recognition to the founding president of APAL, María González Acosta.
Eduardo Rodríguez Díaz; to ‘Eduardo El Guardia’ for his dedication to the town of Olula del Río and its people.
Catalina Sánchez Silva; to ‘Seño Caty’ in recognition of her teaching work, transmitting wisdom to so many children in Olula del Río.
Dolores Sánchez Silva; to ‘Seño Loly’ in recognition of her work as a teacher, educating so many children in Olula del Río with joy and patience.
Ver de Olula Motocross Club; in recognition of their dedication and passion for promoting the discipline of motorcycling in Olula del Río.
Juan Martínez Pérez; to ‘Juan el de Cullar’ in recognition of his personal attention to the people of Olula del Río in his shop, who welcomed him as just another onion grower.
Dolores Pérez Cano and Francisco Asensio Sánchez; to the couple formed by Loli and Paco who for so many years have run the ‘Bar de la Gasolinera’ always with a friendly and close treatment to the people of Ollar.
Pilar Teruel Gallego; in recognition of a life dedicated to her family, being the fundamental pillar of her home.
Antonio Plasencia Borja; in recognition of his work in public service and for the people of Olula del Río as director of the Post Office.
After the presentation of the awards, the ‘Coral Sentimento’ will sing the Andalusian anthem to round off the formal ceremony, followed by a tasting of migas (breadcrumbs). This is a typical dish that onion growers share with friends and family every Andalusian day.
