The Guardia Civil has dismantled a criminal group in Mazarrón (Murcia), allegedly dedicated to drug trafficking, and has arrested its four members, according to sources from the Benemérita in a statement.

The members of the Citizen Security Prevention Unit have seized more than a hundred doses of cocaine, 300 grams of marijuana, 85 grams of hashish, objects related to drug trafficking, cash and weapons, among other things.

The investigations carried out as part of the operation led to the identification of three individuals with a long criminal record, including drug trafficking offences, who were very active in the sale of narcotic substances in the vicinity of their homes, where they received their buyers regardless of the presence of minors.

The dismantled drug selling points were the most active in the municipality of Mazarrón.

Sometimes, it was the buyers who entered the homes of those investigated and consumed the substances ‘in situ’, to avoid being detected in police controls. They also transported the drugs to points where they met to make the exchanges.

Once the necessary evidence had been obtained, with prior judicial authorisation, the Guardia Civil carried out the operational phase of the operation, made up of around fifty Civil Guards, who simultaneously entered and searched the three dwellings.

In addition to 150 doses of cocaine, 300 grams of marijuana in buds, 85 grams of hashish and other effects related to drug trafficking, more than 2,000 euros in cash, mobile phones and various weapons were seized, including a rapier stick, considered a prohibited weapon, and two simulated firearms.

Due to the existence of a large number of animals in the homes searched, which were in very poor condition, the investigators requested the support of members of the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA), who confirmed the existence of various administrative infractions in the area of the environment in the three homes in which they intervened.

As part of the operation’s operational phase, the Civil Guards detected illegal connections to the electricity network in some homes, so they contacted the electricity management company, which cut off the electricity supply to eight homes that were defrauding the public electricity supply.

The exploitation phase of operation ‘Yusanfer’ has culminated in the arrest of four residents of Mazarrón as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health, for drug trafficking.

The arrested, the seized drugs, the seized effects and the proceedings have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction of Totana.
