The Guardia Civil has investigated a driver after detecting in a speed control that he was driving at 137 kilometres per hour on a stretch of the Cedacero Road, in Cartagena (Murcia), whose maximum permitted limit is 50 kilometres per hour, according to sources from the Benemérita in a statement.
The incident occurred when agents of the Traffic Detachment who were carrying out a static speed control at kilometre 12.600 of the RM-E22 (Cartagena-Puerto de Mazarrón) detected that a car was travelling at a speed of 87 kilometres per hour over the maximum speed limit.
The Civil Guards identified the driver, a young man of 24 years of age and resident of Mazarrón, who was apparently on his way home. Thus, the Armed Institute proceeded to the instruction of proceedings as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety by driving at a speed of more than 80 kilometres per hour on intercity roads.

The investigated person and the vehicle he was driving were placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction number 5 of Cartagena.
