Manuel López, mayor of Lúcar, will once again lead the Ciudadanos (CS) candidacy in this town for the next municipal elections to be held on 28 May, and he will do so accompanied by his team, those who have worked alongside the mayor during this term of office.
For López, the journey has been «difficult, with complex situations that we have had to solve in order to clean up our Consistory», recalling «the exorbitant debt» that he found when he arrived, which exceeded one million euros. «According to the report drawn up by the Provincial Council, this debt amounted to 1,092,379 euros, divided into different concepts, so we had to face a really complicated situation right from the start».
Precisely, the management of this government team, with Manuel López at the helm, has helped the Lúcar Town Council to get some breathing space. In this way, they have managed to catch up with their obligations and outstanding invoices, obtain a loan from the Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) to pay the amount of final and non-final court rulings that the Consistory had pending (336,147.78 euros), «a loan that we are paying punctually, with the corresponding instalments».

Along with this, they continue to pay another debt of 266,989 euros, which was already financed through a loan for payment to suppliers. «In addition, we are fully up to date with payments to public administrations,» added López. And, another noteworthy fact, the average period of payment to suppliers was previously set at 527 days, «this caused many professionals did not want to work for the City Council,» described the mayor of CS, however, thanks to the management of the Liberals, this payment period has been reduced to 17 days. «This has allowed us to recover many small businesses or freelancers, who are being paid on time for their services.
Work, data and results that make it clear that «management, transparency and dedication to improving the lives of our neighbours have been the maxims of this government team,» acknowledged the Ciudadanos candidate.
Precisely, the actions that have been carried out in the municipality, apart from the reorganisation of the Town Hall, endorse the commitment of the mayor and his team. Among some of the initiatives that have been developed, López highlighted that «we have acquired two houses in the town centre and a plot of land of 6,000 square metres; we are building two social housing units on the site of one of these acquired houses», highlighting the different works that have been carried out to improve the asphalting, water supply and sanitation of the town.
«Our objective has always been clear, the Town Hall must be at the service of our citizens and the town, and from that humility and respect we want to continue working in Lúcar», he assured.
