An investment of 48,000 euros by the regional government will enable the conditioning and improvement of the rural road that runs through El Mirador, in San Javier, and which connects with the RM-1 motorway, which links the Mar Menor with Murcia via Sucina. The Regional Minister for Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Antonio Luengo, and the Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, visited the works to improve the road, which serves as access to numerous agricultural and livestock farms as well as houses scattered around the area.
The councillor explained that a large part of the route was in poor condition with potholes and irregularities in the road surface, which hindered the safe circulation of vehicles. «At the request of the San Javier Town Council, the regional government is taking the necessary measures to resolve the deficiencies and make it possible for it to be used in adequate conditions of service and road safety».
The Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo thanked «the commitment of the Regional Ministry and the Regional Government to San Javier, which in this term of office has already repaired more than 15 kilometres of rural roads in the municipality». Luengo added that «this action responds to a claim in this regard, to improve road safety on these roads that provide a great service in the rural area.
The work consists of clearing and grubbing up the roadside in the formation of ditches and/or slopes, and the watering of the road surface and wearing course. In addition, there is a section where a rainwater drainage system will be installed by cutting the asphalt agglomerate pavement and demolition for the installation of a 400 mm outer diameter pipe, connected to a manhole with a ductile cast iron grille for the drainage of water from the area, and construction of a gutter for rainwater channelling.
