The Guardia Civil of Almería, in a recent investigation, has arrested a person in Olula del Río as the perpetrator of a crime against public health and another of defrauding the electricity network, after establishing that he is responsible for an indoor cultivation of marijuana in a house in the municipality of Fines.
This investigation is part of the work carried out by the Guardia Civil of Almeria in the fight against trafficking, cultivation and/or processing of narcotic substances in the province.
The investigation began when a resident of the municipality of Fines informed the Guardia Civil of Almeria that, on entering a house on her property, she found a marijuana crop inside.
The officers carried out an inspection of the house, where they found 46 marijuana plants of more than 50 cm, 14 electrical transformers, 15 lamps with 600 watt bulbs, 2 air extractors, 2 air fans and a ventilation motor, as well as various materials normally used to optimise the crop.
In collaboration with Endesa technicians, the appropriate electrical measurements were taken and an illegal connection to the electricity network was neutralised.
The necessary steps and investigations were carried out to locate the person responsible for the crop, with a positive result thanks to the collaboration of the public, who identified him photographically without any doubt.
Finally, as a result of the investigation, the Guardia Civil of Almeria located and arrested the person responsible for the plantation, who had a police record for related offences, as the perpetrator of a crime against public health and another of defrauding the electricity supply.
The proceedings conducted by the Guardia Civil, together with the detainee, have been handed over to the Juzgado de Primera Instancia e Instrucción Único de Purchena.
