Albox punctures in El Ejido
They lost 2-0 to Poli Ejido.

In their first home game of 2023, Poli Ejido Club de Fútbol beat CD Villa de Albox 2-0 on matchday 17 of the Andalusian First Division, this past Sunday at the Estadio Municipal de Santa María del Águila.

A match between two irregular teams, where the Albojenses were unable to put away the clearest chances that came their way and the good defensive work, which allowed the game to go to the break in a draw (0-0), was not enough for Juan Antonio Salmerón to put the locals ahead in the second half, in the 60th minute.

Minutes later, Villa de Albox were reduced to a numerical disadvantage after Mario Carmona was sent off for a double yellow card, something which complicated the visitors’ chances of getting the points.

Almost at the final whistle, Alberto Segovia beat the Albojense goalkeeper again to make it 2-0.

After the game, Villa de Albox are now ninth in the standings with 24 points, far from the top of the table.
On the other hand, Poli Ejido, with their victory, are in twelfth place with 19 points.

Next Sunday, CD Villa de Albox will play against Cuevas C.F. at the Las Ventas municipal ground in a match that is expected to be very evenly matched and in which the Albojenses will be hoping for a victory to put an end to the bad run of recent matches.
