María Dolores Hernández Molina will be the PSOE candidate for Mayor of Líjar in the Municipal Elections on 28th May. The current deputy mayor has been a councillor for the last two municipal councils and has extensive experience in local government.
The PSOE candidate intends to take over the baton from the current councillor, the socialist Sergio Sánchez Requena, with whom she has worked side by side for the last eight years. Hernández Molina will be the first female mayor of Líjar and will be surrounded by a team of «committed and well-trained» people to take on the challenges facing the municipality. Among them, she highlights the promotion of tourism and making Líjar a reference municipality for this sector, supported by its unique location, in the heart of the Sierra de los Filabres. In fact, the construction of a mini-lodge and rural houses to attract tourists is underway; two of the four rural houses have already been renovated by the current PSOE government team.
«We will fight to stop the phenomenon of depopulation by encouraging people who decide to live here, in their village, to do so because they have everything they need to do so, increasing our resources and services and making them available to citizens,» said the socialist candidate, who recalled that plans continue to beautify Líjar and to provide the village with another playground and a paddle tennis court.

«We know our town very well and what its people need, and our objective will be to make Lijar a place to live comfortably,» said Hernández Molina.
