A dozen neighbours had to be evacuated early this morning in Albox, after flames and smoke from the first floor of a building located in Avenue Puente, above the old mortuary, seeped through the windows of the first floor.
«Luckily I was awake,» one of the neighbours of Pakistani origin, who managed to alert her family, which includes five minors, told La Comarca Noticias.
They, along with another family of Ecuadorian nationality, were quickly evacuated thanks to the Local Police and a worker from the Town Hall of Albox, who made the Municipal Sports Pavilion available to the affected families.

Although two of the neighbours had to be treated for smoke inhalation, the incidents did not go beyond material damage.
The Guardia Civil is now investigating the origin of the flames.
The fire stations of Huércal-Overa, Turre and Albox, attached to the Consorcio de Bomberos del Levante, together with members of the Local Police and Guardia Civil have been on the scene.
