The Civil Guard has identified the crew members of the boat that shot a killer whale in an area near the Strait of Gibraltar.
The investigation was initiated after having knowledge through the internal channels of the Guardia Civil and through the viralization of a video on social networks where the crew of a boat (recreational catamaran type), made several shots or used other types of explosive devices against a killer whale.
Continuing with the investigations, the agents were able to determine that these people could be heading to a port in the province of Almería. For this reason, agents of SEPRONA and the Provincial Maritime Service established a surveillance and control device of the territorial waters and ports in the province of Almería.

As a result of the device, the agents located the said vessel in the port of Almerimar (El Ejido), so they proceeded to identify the occupants. They also proceeded to search the boat for pyrotechnics, explosives or any other type of elements likely to be used, but found none more.
The crew, who are sailing around the world, acknowledged the facts and showed full cooperation with the force, providing all kinds of documentation and registration of the boat.
SEPRONA initiated a criminal investigation in case the facts could constitute a crime under the Penal Code, as well as an administrative infraction against the skipper of the boat and the person who made use of the pyrotechnic device to scare away the protected species.
