The new Civil Guard barracks in Cartagena (Murcia) will cost 31,956,070 euros, will be ready in 30 months and will have two distinct areas, one administrative, which will house the official offices, and another for housing, which will include 102 pavilions, as well as a student residence.
The barracks will be built on the same plot as the old facilities, which have been vacated as a result of the damage caused to the infrastructure by a DANA recorded last May, according to sources from the Benemérita in a statement.
The old facilities, which have already begun to be demolished, were declared an emergency after a report by the Barracks Service revealed the existence of a series of structural deficiencies.
With the declaration of emergency, the Guardia Civil has moved the official premises to a new location and vacated the barracks pavilions. Only two buildings of the current complex will have a temporary use until the premises are completely moved out of this barracks.
All costs related to the removals will be borne by the administration in the framework of the emergency dossier.
The Cartagena City Council has provided premises to move the Traffic Detachment in the Security Park, and has provided a system managed by the Department of Housing to make rental properties available to residents. The Government Delegation has also managed different solutions for the relocation of those affected.
Most of the affected units will be relocated to the old Antonio Arévalo school, on loan from the Regional Ministry of Education.
On the other hand, the Port Authority of Cartagena will facilitate the relocation of the Maritime Service Units and the Group of Specialists in Underwater Activities (GEAS) in the facilities of the port of Santa Lucía.
