The Guardia Civil de la Comandancia de Almería on behalf of the Servicio de Protección de la Naturaleza (SEPRONA) of the Comandancia de la Guardia Civil de Almería, is carrying out various inspections in the province in order to check compliance with regulations on animal protection, health and welfare, as well as the subsequent traceability of food products to ensure the correct hygienic and sanitary conditions during the production process and until they reach the final consumer. Bearing in mind these important dates and the increase in the sale and consumption of different types of meat products, the Nature Protection Service of the Guardia Civil Command in Almeria, has proceeded to carry out various joint inspections with officials from the Territorial Delegations of Health and Consumer Affairs, and Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Andalusian Regional Government in Almeria.
On the one hand, inspections are being carried out in the Lower Alpujarra, with the aim of detecting and preventing possible food fraud that could affect the final consumers, checking the correct compliance with the traceability of the meat products that are most in demand for the tables at the celebration of these dates. To date, joint inspections have been carried out in different butcher’s shops in the region, verifying correct compliance with public health, sanitary and animal welfare regulations in the places inspected, detecting only documentary anomalies that do not affect food safety.
On the other hand, sheep and goat farms are also being inspected to guarantee the correct hygienic and sanitary conditions and the transit of livestock.

The collaboration and exchange of information between departments of the Andalusian Regional Government and SEPRONA agents of the Guardia Civil Command in Almeria is constant in order to undertake actions in their respective areas of responsibility and to join forces towards the common final objective of greater collective security.
The Almeria Command recommends consumers to purchase only correctly labelled foodstuffs from authorised establishments.
