The Andalusian Regional Government offers more than 13,000 vacancies for civil servants in the teaching profession

For the Regional Minister, this measure is a step forward in the stabilisation of teaching staff in public schools.

The Regional Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training has offered more than 13,000 vacancies for the next academic year 2024/25 for civil servant teachers with the main objective of making progress in the stabilisation of the teaching staff in Andalusian public schools. This figure, said Del Pozo, is historic in Andalusia, as this number of vacancies has never before been put on the table. In fact, for this academic year, around 7,000 vacancies were offered and in the 2018/19 academic year there were barely 4,000 vacancies.

Likewise, the Regional Minister informed that this measure responds to a recurrent demand made in recent years by the trade unions represented in the Mesa de la Educación Pública (CSIF, ANPE, USTEA, CCOO and UGT).

This offer is already available both in the schools and in the personnel boards of the territorial delegations of Educational Development and Vocational Training of the eight provinces, which will now be able to make their proposals to adjust the staffing levels, if necessary.

Civil servant teachers will be able to access these posts through the transfer competition, a procedure that closed last November and is expected to be definitively resolved next May. In this way, teachers who have participated in this process will know their final destination before the end of the current academic year.

The Regional Minister emphasised that for the Regional Government, the improvement of the education system «depends on having an increasingly stable teaching staff». For this reason, the consolidated structural staff in Andalusia has increased in recent years, with an increase of more than 6,800 teachers and professors in the last five years, reaching 107,812 this academic year.
