The municipality of Albox will host a Regional Meeting of Senior Citizens on Thursday, July 25th at the Water and Health Centre. A proposal that seeks to offer leisure and social opportunities for residents of the north of the province. Elderly people who in many cases do not have the possibility of travelling to the beach or accessing more specific leisure activities for them. “Combating loneliness, making them enjoy and have the possibility of meeting neighbours who have the same concerns as them” assures the mayor of Albox, María del Mar Alfonso, about a proposal that hopes to bring together some 450 people.
The attendees, who have come from the municipalities of Taberno, Zurgena, Macael, Partaloa, Fines, Arboleas, Urrácal and the municipality of Albox itself, will be able to enjoy a menu prepared especially for the occasion with starters, paella and typical sweets. Once lunch is over, a bingo game will begin for all attendees and the afternoon will be rounded off with music and dancing.
The participating town councils have opened the call for all residents who want to attend, they will have transport from their own town to take them and return them to their places of origin. “Summer is a time when the days are very long for our elderly, at this meeting they will be able to stay cool with air conditioning and enjoy a day organized especially for them. Food, music and a good atmosphere; meeting up with friends and they will even be able to meet people with the same tastes from other municipalities in the Almanzora region” says Vanesa Águila, Councilor for Health, Well-being, Social Inclusion and Associations of the Albox Town Council.

All those interested in participating in the Coexistence Day must contact their own town hall to register and attend this meeting that seeks, above all, to propose leisure activities for the elderly in the house.
