The Provincial Council of Almería has already closed the tourist operation with the British Market that will allow the arrival of more than 31,000 passengers to the destination ‘Costa de Almería’. This has been confirmed by the vice president, Fernando Giménez, who has revealed that the tour operator Jet2 has already been awarded the service of attracting tourists at origin that will allow the deseasonalization of tourist activity, since it will last until November 30.
Specifically, the campaign launched by the Provincial Tourism Service specifically includes the arrival of 31,500 passengers between the months of May and November with direct flights from Birmingham (3 frequencies), Bristol (1 frequency), Leeds (1 frequency) and Manchester (1 frequency). As a condition, passengers in this operation will stay at least 5 nights in hotels in the province of Almería. In the contract signed by Jet2, it undertakes to organise excursions so that tourists have the opportunity to take them and get to know the destination ‘Costa de Almería’ in more depth.
Giménez has highlighted the importance of this action promoted by the Provincial Council because it will allow the number of tourists to grow and for all of them to stay 5 nights or more in hotels in the province: “The province of Almería has managed to smash the national tourism figures and with this action we want to contribute to international tourism returning to pre-pandemic levels,” he explained.

He also recalled that one of the great strengths that Almería has with the British market is the direct air connections with different companies and up to six airports: Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, London Gatwick, London Stansted and Manchester.
In this regard, the Vice President has also invited the people of Almería to fly to the four airports where Jet 2 operates: “These flights will not only allow us to bring tourists, but also improve the province’s connectivity with the United Kingdom, since tickets are on sale.”
The British market is among the three main sources of tourists to our province, along with Belgium and the Netherlands. British tourists travel out of necessity (holidays are not a luxury) and they always travel independently of their economic situation, adjusting the duration or quantity. The main preferences when travelling are sun and beach, nature, leisure and they opt for tourist packages.
