The Provincial Council of Almería and the Regional Government of Andalusia, through the Ministry of Employment, Training and Self-Employment, are making a training initiative a reality that will facilitate the labour insertion of 30 unemployed people from 19 municipalities in the province of Almería. These are two Employment and Training Programmes that are being developed in the Provincial Council’s facilities: Assisted Residence – Rural Dipalme and Nursery – Rural Dipalme, which will allow students to obtain two professional certificates.
The President of the Provincial Council, Javier A. García, and the territorial delegate for Employment, Amós García, have visited the students of both projects in the practical classes that are being taught both in the Assisted Residence, as well as in the gardens and the Provincial Nursery itself.
The objective of both projects is to develop employment and training actions in a face-to-face modality, aimed at improving the possibilities of job insertion through their qualification with theoretical classes alternating with professional practice. Both projects have 15 students and a duration of 12 months and an investment of almost €820,000 financed by this line of subsidies from the Andalusian Government.

The unemployed students who are participating come from a total of 19 municipalities: Lucainena, Alcudia de Monteagud, Gádor, Olula del Río, Ohanes, Berja, Benahadux, Huércal de Almería, Alhama, Albox, Bayarque, Urrácal, Bacares, Viator, Purchena, Cantoria, Fiñana, Felix and Albanchez.
The President of the Provincial Council has assured that “These workshops not only represent an open door to new job opportunities, but also a space where each one of you can grow and develop both professionally and personally. This initiative was born with the sole objective of providing you with the necessary tools to build a better future.”
Similarly, he explained that “with this 1-year training it will be easier to find work in two subjects with a great future and which we hope will respond to your vocation. At the Provincial Council we will not stop for a single minute in continuing to train and equalize opportunities among the residents of the province.”
Javier A. García also highlighted that the aim of these courses “has been decided around the main employment niches in the different municipalities of the province” and assured that “you can always count on us and I invite you to take advantage of this opportunity that the Junta de Andalucía and the Diputación de Almería are giving you”.
The Delegate for Employment, Business and Self-Employment, Amós García Hueso, has thanked “the Provincial Council of Almería for having joined the efforts of the Regional Government to offer training and employment actions to the people of Almería, creating opportunities to boost the economy and employment in the province, with the launch of these two projects that we support from the Regional Government with 800,753 euros”.
Amós García has highlighted that the specialties in which 30 unemployed people are being trained and working for a year – social health care and auxiliary activities in nurseries and gardens – «are among the most in demand in the province, as reflected in the studies of training needs that we carry out and permanently update in order to anticipate and design a FP for Employment offer tailored to our productive fabric. In addition, the knowledge and skills that the participants will acquire will result in an improvement in the care of elderly and dependent people and the beautification of our municipalities with green areas.»
The delegate also highlighted “the importance of Vocational Training for Employment in improving opportunities to find work and its contribution to increasing the competitiveness of companies. The Junta has increased the budget allocated to this active employment policy in the 2024 budget by 14%, up to 287 million euros.”
