The Andalusian parliamentarian of the Popular Party of Almería, Ángeles Martínez, has demanded that the Sánchez Government comply with the desalination plants in the province because the situation is “critical” and so far, the only one that has lent a hand to solve the drought, carrying out numerous actions, has been the Government of Juanma Moreno.
Ángeles Martínez hopes that the commitment to advance in the desalination plants, especially with that of Bajo Almanzora, which the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge gave yesterday to the Minister of Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco, “does not fall on deaf ears” because unfortunately so far the investment of the Government of Spain in water matters in the province has been very scarce.
“In the last five years of the more than 104 million euros budgeted for water in Almería, the Sánchez Government has only executed 14.9 million euros, 14.33%. Where are the missing 90 million euros? Almería does not want more than anyone else, but neither does it want less than anyone else and we demand that the money that has been budgeted to build the water infrastructure that we so need in our land be executed as soon as possible”, she demanded.

The PP parliamentarian hopes that there will be no further delays in the works of the Bajo Almanzora desalination plant because, as she explains, “the situation is serious both in the Levante and in the Almanzora”, adding that “if they are not executed as soon as possible there is a serious risk that numerous crops and jobs will be lost”.
On the other hand, Ángeles Martínez has thanked Ramón Fernández-Pacheco for the “effective and efficient water policy” that he is carrying out from the Ministry, providing solutions to the water problems and dialoguing with the Government of Spain so that it executes as soon as possible the infrastructures that are of national competence.
The PP parliamentarian finally recalls that the Government of Juanma Moreno has promoted more than 1,100 actions in the area of water throughout Andalusia and that it continues to work and act with anticipation and courage to win the battle against drought.
“No one has ever done as much in the area of water as the PP Government. In 2018, public works were paralyzed in Andalusia, today half of the public works are hydraulic. From the PP we do not lower our guard and we are very clear that water is a priority, which is why we demand more willingness to dialogue on the part of the Government of Spain and a real commitment to water policies,” she concludes.
